The gear controls do not respond
Check the operation of the deadman sensor

Perform a voltage test on the sensor
If the drive controls are unresponsive or malfunctioning, first verify that the deadman sensor is working properly by performing a voltage test on it with a multimeter.

Replace the sensor
If the multimeter doesn't detect voltage on the sensor, it's faulty and needs to be replaced.
